In the context of things that make you go, “hmmmm,” I offer this observation. My youngest son is charged with taking things out to the recycling bin. More than a week ago he was taking an empty Coffeemate (French Vanilla) bottle to recycling. In good boy fashion he gave it a good shake and created this interesting patterns of drops of the substance that is Coffeemate. Now 10 days later and two significant heavy rainstorms later, those drops on the driveway are not changed. They appear to be permanent.
So, are we drinking coffeemate or paint? My wife, who is the one who defiles her coffee with the stuff has decided to stop using it and wonders what it her insides are like now…
Hey, I love this stuff! But that is a seriously freaky observation…
My recommendation? Stick to the undefiled, black coffee. Its better for you 🙂
Oh man, I’ll add this to the list of reasons why I don’t defile my coffee with artificial flavours. I’ll pass this on to my wife who enjoys her coffeemate.
i’ve heard scary tales of ice cream that won’t melt either.
The fake stuff, low fat or reduced sugar, don’t eat lots of ice cream after that.
good ole fashioned milk and coffee, good for the heart!
blessings on your day! kristina
After I read your post to a co-worker, he provided me with this list:
INGREDIENTS: CORN SYRUP SOLIDS, VEGETABLE OIL (PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED COCONUT OR PALM KERNEL, HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN), SODIUM CASEINATE (A MILK DERIVATIVE)**, AND LESS THAN 2% OF DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE (MODERATES COFFEE ACIDITY), MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES (PREVENTS OIL SEPARATION), SODIUM ALUMINOSILICATE, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, ANNATTO COLOR.
** Not a source of lactose.
It would be interesting to assay the stains on your driveway to determine their composition. Disquieting, but interesting.
I wonder if it would be the aluminosilicate. Sounds bad to me.
Can’t be worse then the ingredients in diet coke or mcdonald’s french fries.
Ron, just realized Kim was using the sugar free stuff. That may change the ingredient listing…
ron came home the other night and shared your coffee mate story. i really didn’t want to know what’s in it, but ron being the sleuth, went to find out. can you imagine what it does to your insides? yuk… i think i’ll stick to half and half, just am not able to do it black.
let us know if it ever comes off…
