Has anyone ever said anything regarding spiritual care teams and codependency? What are things you would do to steer people who use ministry as an addiction away from joining a restoration team?
Interesting you raise this issue. We were talking yesterday with someone about this issue (someone who works with many pastors). He said most pastors are addicts, addicts to glory, fame, people pleasing, etc. Now, maybe that is most that he works with (who have destroyed themselves and others).
There has been a book that I’ve been reading that touches on the addictive nature of ministry (it is a book on addictions) and I think it makes sense that as fallen people looking for satisfaction in all the wrong places we could turn just as easily to ministry as our source of fulfillment than to God himself.
